July Webinar – Meaningful Community Impact with Affordable Housing
July 30, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pmFree
Housing Development Consortium of Seattle-King County (HDC) staff will present the latest information about our affordable housing and homelessness crisis including the most recent data. They will share who the Housing Development Consortium of Seattle-King County is and what role it plays in addressing the crisis. Specifics will be given on current strategies, how affordable housing is developed and funded and what is limiting our collective ability to have meaningful impact as a broader community on this persistent problem. Time will be allotted for meaningful dialogue about your questions.
The HDC is the nonprofit membership association for the affordable housing operating, development, and service sector in King County, Washington. In pursuit of our shared vision, that all people live with dignity in safe, healthy, affordable homes in communities of opportunity, HDC works hard to convene and advocate for our 180-member collective. We strive each day to create a more robust and connected sector to better respond to our region’s incredible need.
HDC believes that large-scale social change – the kind needed to address our most urgent regional challenges – comes from effective sector-wide coordination rather than from the isolated intervention of individual organizations. We are known nationally for shepherding groups through complex, and often contentious differences, and supporting them in unifying around a shared agenda. As a membership association, we are uniquely positioned to bring together nonprofit, government, and business around our shared vision and common agenda, and our membership is growing in number and perspective as organizations across the region continue to join in our work.
Over 31 years, HDC has grown to encompass all the nonprofit housing developers, as well as major financial institutions, for profit developers, architects, general contractors, government agencies, public housing authorities, grass-roots community-based organizations, and others working in the affordable housing space. HDC’s “Big Tent” membership represents the various segments and perspectives of the affordable housing sector. Guided by our members and volunteer Board of Directors, we weave a powerful network of strategic alliances across sectors and industries to respond to diverse community needs and provide capacity-building, networking, and advocacy opportunities all geared toward creating a sector that is more productive, efficient, and effective as good stewards of public resources.
This event will be hosted as a Webinar as we continue to Stay Home – Stay Healthy while continuing to find new and creative ways to engage with our membership. Zoom Info to follow for registered members.
